Holiday wish lists are showing increased interest in screen-free toys, nostalgic photography and practical household items, according to a new analysis by Giftster.

The family gift-list service analyzed 1.5 million items added to about 150,000 wish lists over the past 30 days. The company said the data reflect products people are requesting, rather than what consumers say they plan to buy.

Among children’s gifts, building toys and hands-on activities gained ground. Magna-Tiles rose from No. 19 to No. 5 on Giftster’s most-requested list, while the screen-free Yoto Mini audio player climbed from No. 27 to No. 11. The movement-based Nex Playground reached No. 6.

Digital cameras and photo printers also showed increased interest. The Kodak PixPro FZ55 camera rose 11 places to No. 7, and a Liene photo printer climbed 24 places to No. 29. Six photography products appeared among the 100 most-requested items.

Reading devices remained popular, with Kindle products taking seven of the top 30 spots year to date. Practical household products also appeared on wish lists, including Bissell Little Green carpet cleaners, a baby bottle washer and a digital family calendar.

“This holiday season, people are asking for less screen time, more nostalgia and practical upgrades that make everyday life easier,” Ron Reimann, founder and CEO of Giftster, said in a news release.
