The Rockettes’ “Christmas Spectacular” at Radio City Music Hall has been canceled due to COVID-19.
Four shows already had been canceled Dec. 17 after positive COVID-19 tests were confirmed among the company, according to news reports.
“We regret that we are unable to continue the ‘Christmas Spectacular’ this season,” the show said in a statement later in the day. “We had hoped we could make it through the season and are honored to have hosted hundreds of thousands of fans at more than 100 shows over the last seven weeks.”
Unlike Broadway, Radio City Music Hall attendees were not required to wear masks. Performers had expressed concerns over COVID-19 protocols.
The Rockettes are among a number of other New York City shows dealing with a resurgence of COVID-19 cases. “Moulin Rouge,” “Hamilton” and “Mrs. Doubtfire” all have canceled some shows due to COVID-19.
Elsewhere around the country, productions have shuttered. Several performances of “A Christmas Carol” in Los Angeles were canceled. The touring show of “Pretty Woman” also canceled shows in Chicago.
