The UPMC Rink at PPG Place has been named one of the top five ice skating rinks in the country, according to USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
The Downtown Pittsburgh rink ranked No. 5 in the list, which highlights the best outdoor skating experiences across the United States. USA Today editors cited the rink’s central location, popularity and scenic city views as key features.
The rankings were determined by public vote, following nominations by a panel of experts. The rink was the only Pennsylvania location to make the top 10.
By the way, the PPG Place rink is 67 percent larger than the famous one at Rockefeller Center in New York City.
Located in the plaza of PPG Place, the rink operates from mid-November through late February or early March.
Skaters can book sessions in advance and have the option to sign up for lessons.
