Hundreds of dollars in LED Christmas lights stolen from man who’s decorated for nearly 50 years

The Phifer family near Richmond, Virginia, have been decorating the outside of their home for nearly 50 years.

But, recently, the family noticed some $900 worth of commercial-grade LED lights were stolen. The family estimates they display about 1.5 million lights.

The new LED lights were meant as replacements to help lower the power bills, Bobby Phifer said. The family owns two homes on the street — including his mother’s home, where the annual display originated.

In addition to the LED lights, the family said tools, animal food and other items were stolen — all totaling about $1,500.

To help the family recover the stolen lights, Bobby Phifer’s daughter Katelyn set up a GoFundMe page where more than $3,200 has been raised.

Bobby Phifer didn’t know about the GoFundMe page, which his daughter meant as a surprise.

So, needless to say, he was surprised!

“I’m really shocked,” he told WWBT-TV. “Thanks to everybody, we’ll reorder the lights. We’re going to invest the money into different LED lights.”
