Steubenville, Ohio, and the Steubenville Nutcracker Village were featured Dec. 1 on NBC’s “Today” show during its “Merriest Main Streets” segment.
The “Today” show welcomed WTOV-TV anchor Jaime Baker, who talked with nutcracker designer Therese Nelson and Steubenville Mayor Jerry Barilla.
More than 200 nutcrackers — with many standing at 6 feet tall — are placed throughout downtown Steubenville.
“It’s unlike anything in the whole country,” Barilla said. We’re getting people from California, Alaska, Hawaii (and) all over coming to Steubenville. …We’re open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We’ll keep the lights on for you.”
