A popular holiday season event in Beaver County has been canceled.

Beaver County Christmas Extravaganza organizers in October announced that the 2023 event had been canceled.

“We have faced unforeseen challenges, including a significant decrease in volunteer support, changes in our full-time team, and a considerable increase in event expenses,” organizers said in a statement. “These challenges have made it impossible for us to host the event at the level of quality and scale that you have come to expect.”

The event began decades ago as a festival of trees event and later expanded to also include an outdoor light show and art display.

The event benefitted the Beaver County Children and Youth Services.

“Your dedication has been the driving force behind this event,” Beaver County Christmas Extravaganza organizers said in the statement. “We are truly thankful for your enthusiasm. While we are deeply saddened by this decision, please know that our commitment to the Beaver County community remains stronger than ever.”

It’s not yet known if the event will return in 2024.

“We are exploring new strategies for next year to ensure we don’t face the same challenges in the future,” organizers said in a statement.
